Point Tagging Data Segmentation

Synergy allows you to segment data into logical groupings to make Point Tagging faster and more efficient. The following information defines how to use filtering, searching, and equivalent name grouping to quickly see which equipment needs Point Tagging. You should be on the Point Tagging screen of Synergy for these directions.

Filtering by Point Type

1. Click the “Point Type” filter dropdown and click a point type to filter by. The [Apply Filter] button becomes active.

2. Click the [Apply Filter] button. The table is filtered based on your selection.

Filtering by Equipment Type

1. Click the “Equipment Type” filter dropdown and click an equipment type to filter by. The [Apply Filter] button becomes active.

2. Click the [Apply Filter] button. The table is filtered based on your selection.

Filtering by Units

1. Click the “Units” filter dropdown and click a unit designation to filter by. The [Apply Filter] button becomes active.

2. Click the [Apply Filter] button. The table is filtered based on your selection.

Filtering by Point Template

1. Click the “Point Template” filter dropdown and select a Point Template to filter by. The [Apply Filter] button becomes active.

2. Click the [Apply Filter] button. The table is filtered based on your selection.

Searching by Asset Path

1. Click the “Search Asset Path” search bar and type or copy and paste the desired Asset Path. The [Apply Filter] button becomes active.

Note: If you copy and paste and Asset Path into the "Search Asset Path" search bar, make sure there are no spaces before or after the entry.

2. Click the [Apply Filter] button. The table is filtered based on your search input.

Searching by Name

1. Click the “Search Name” search bar and type or copy and paste the desired name. The [Apply Filter] button becomes active.

2. Click the [Apply Filter] button. The table is filtered based on your search input.

Searching by Display Name

1. Click the “Search Display Name” search bar and type or copy and paste the desired Display Name. The [Apply Filter] button becomes active.

2. Click the [Apply Filter] button. The table is filtered based on your search input.

Using Search Bar Wildcards

Wildcards can be used in searches to further define table results. The asterisk symbol (*) is the wildcard identifier and replaces parts of an asset path or display name in searches. 

  • Using a wildcard at the beginning will return all asset paths that end with the search term.
  • Using a wildcard at the end will return all asset paths that begin with the search term.
  • Using a wildcard at both the start and end will return all asset paths that contain the search term.
  • Using a wildcard between search terms will return all asset paths that contain the search term between wildcards (Example: *flr_1*chlrPlant*chlr*).

Segmenting Data by Grouping Equivalent Names

Using the Group Equivalent Names filter option allows you to refine your results based on the unique names of the mapped points. This enables you to quickly tag points in bulk. The following section details the different ways you can filter and sort this view of the mapped points.

Note: You will need to have the "Group Equivalent Names" option enabled for the following sections. The Search Asset Path bar will be disabled.

Filtering by Point Type

1. Click the “Point Type” filter dropdown and click the Point Type to filter by.

2. Click the [Apply Filter] button. The table is filtered based on your selection.

Filtering by Equipment Type

1. Click the "Equipment Type" filter dropdown and click the Equipment to filter by.

2. Click the [Apply Filter] button. The table is filtered based on your selection.

Filtering by Units

1. Click the “Units” filter dropdown and click a unit designation to filter by.

2. Click the [Apply Filter] button. The table is filtered based on your selection.

Filtering by Point Template

1. Click the “Point Template” filter dropdown and select a Point Template to filter by.

2. Click the [Apply Filter] button. The table is filtered based on your selection.

Searching by Name

1. Click the “Search Name” search bar and type or copy and paste the desired name.

Note: If you copy and paste a name into the "Search Name" bar, make sure there are no spaces before or after the entry.

2. Click the [Apply Filter] button. The table is filtered based on your search input.

Searching by Display Name

1. Click the “Search Name” search bar and enter the desired Display Name.

Note: If you copy and paste a Display Name into the "Search Display Name" bar, make sure there are no spaces before or after the entry.

2. Click the [Apply Filter] button. The table is filtered based on your search input.

Returning to the Default Table View

To return to the default table view after you have segmented the data by filtering or searching, click the “Clear Filter” link in the filter bar.
